Getting Around

Orientation

Your ship will drop anchor in the bay, and you will proceed ashore via ship's tender. The tender will take you to the small pier in Zihuatanejo. The traditional Mexican village of Zihuatanejo is a one minute walk from the Zihuatanejo pier. Transit to the Ixtapa resort, only 5-miles away, takes about 10 minutes.

Taxis. Taxis in the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo area are plentiful, and the rates are reasonable. Three taxi companies run the cities' fleet. Always agree to the fare before boarding any taxi.

It'll cost about $60 pesos to get you from the pier in Zihuatanejo to downtown Ixtapa. To go from the pier to Playa Linda across from Isla Ixtapa, it'll cost about $120 pesos.

Within the Zihuatanejo area, it'll cost about $20 pesos to get from the pier to Playa La Madera, and about $30 pesos to get from the pier to Playa La Ropa.

Bus System. Small buses called micros run continuously between Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa, and between El Centro and La Ropa. They cost between $4 and $6.5 pesos, depending on the distance. Use pesos, not dollars, when paying for a bus fare.
